Woke up in a bad mood? Having a bad day for no apparent reason?
Some days I just feel irritable, grumpy, overwhelmed even heavy from the moment I open my eyes and the smallest thing sets me off.
I then spend my whole day feeling like this and it just escalates as the day goes on.
In the last few months I have taken a stand against bad moods, I jumped on google did my research and these are the tips I have been practicing since.
Quick activities like these can set you back on a happier path. Depending on where you are and how much time you have you can do just one or them all.... but first things first you need to choose to take the time out and believe you can change your mood.
Lets get to it.
1. Deep breathing- There are multiple techniques out there, an easy one to get you started is to simply breath in through your nose to the count of 5 and out through your mouth for the count of 5. Repeat for a few minutes, this can be especially useful if your feeling anxious, angry or impulsive.
2. Stretching- stretch and move your body this can release any tension you may have built up which in turn makes you feel good mentally.
3. Practice gratitude- think it, write it, speak it the choice is yours. Name things your grateful for right now!
4. Listen to your favorite song- no-brainer here music can really change your mood, choose your happy jam, repeat if needed.
5. Practice mindfulness- There are many techniques, you don't need a full on meditation. This just brings you to the present moment.
6. Read some inspirational quotes/ listen to a motivational podcast- this always works for me and makes me feel empowered to have a good day.
7. Set an intention- E.g. Today I will be happy and enjoy the small things in my life.
Go on give them a go, I cant promise you rainbows and kittens but its a great way to stop, reset and start again with a good intention.
