6 things to quit and help kick depression and anxiety to the curb

So I'm going to skip the fluff story and get straight to the point. Having anxiety or depression is draining, I don't know about you but I am always looking for ways to combat it, here are 6 things worth trying.....

1. Junk food. Giving up or even reducing our junk food intake is so valuable to our over all health We all know junk food is bad for our physical health but it actually has a huge impact on our mental health too. Now my diet is pretty good but I defiantly see a correlation between when I eat badly and my anxiety. Don't get me wrong I still eat the odd greasy burger or a packet of cookies but in moderation.

2. Alcohol. While many use alcohol to have a good time or relax it actually has the opposite effect, particularly if your already feeling low. Alcohol is a depressant, when you drink your serotonin levels (happy chemical) decline. So again while the odd drink is fine, cutting back or stopping really can be hugely beneficial to anyone and everyone.

3. Comparing yourself to others. Easier said than done I know. but remember there is no one exactly like you, you are the only perfect you!! This is something I am still working on, the day I actually stop this completely will be a very happy day.

4. Reducing social media time. This is kind of linked to comparing yourself to others but also how often do you stress over what you post, what people will think or how many likes you have? (yeah I'm doing it right now) its stress inducing for sure however silly it may seem.

5. Criticizing yourself. I think everyone is guilty of this at some point. Many of us think being critical can help us move forwards and progress but its actually demotivating, stressful and not helpful in anyway..... so stop (Again working in progress over here).

6. Staying up late. When you don't get the recommended 7-9 hours of quality sleep it can influence not only physically like lack of energy but mentally your outlook on life, motivation and general emotions. In fact lack of sleep can cause irritability, cognitive impairment, heightened emotions and even an impaired immune system.

Depression or no depression we can actually all benefit from these things. Got any more tips for me? comment below.

I will just be over here working on 1-5 because my son still doesn't sleep though the night and this I have no control over.
